GENERAL

Can I interview you for my Art Class? (student)

Hearing that my work is a point of inspiration for any student is the biggest compliment I could receive, and whilst I love answering your questions every single art class in the world at some point gives its students the same assignment and I receive such a large volume of these requests that I can not respond to the vast majority of them. You can find a lot of answers to basic questions bellow and more in-depth answers in interviews I've given (found here).

When did you start and why?

I started painting around 2 and a half years ago. Previously, even as a child, I'd held very little interest in painting and drawing. I admired an artist's skill with the sort of mysticism that comes from the myth that art related talents are ones that you are born with. I started painting by chance and quickly learned that it was a skill that could be acquired like any other. I have been painting every day since.

Where did you go to art school?

I am a self taught artist.

How did you first share your work?

I began sharing my work online around the same time I began painting. I loved following my favourite artists online and invested in online social media where artists could thrive. There's no secret formula to getting your work seen on the internet. My advice would be to have patience and be consistent.

COMMERCIAL WORK & COMMISSIONS

What is your rate?

My rates are variable depending on the project itself and the amount of time involved. Contact me here  with a details about your project and I will get back to you with a quote.

Can you draw me?

I am open to personal commissions for those looking to get portraits of themselves and family/friends. I do not do drawings on request for free. If you'd like to chat about getting a sketch or painting made, contact me here.

EQUIPMENT & TECHNIQUE

How do you make your paintings?

I paint freehand digitally. I use Photoshop CC, a Wacom Intuos5, and an Asus N-Series/Macbook Pro.

What is your process?

My work begins with ideas. When working with clients, I form ideas around detailed research and consultation, making concept sketches that offer a vision of what the final result will be. Once painting begins, I outline in white or blue and design lighting through shadow guides, then I paint corner to corner in complete detail as apposed to in layers.
